The brilliant cover of the english translation of Samanta Schweblin’s Fever Dream had it all in a very feverish dream like kaleidoscopic vision. The Bulgarian edition was renamed to “Poison” so a different direction was needed when designing the book cover. The novel is told though the conversation between Amanda on her death bed and the voice of a young boy named David murmuring in her ear. Whilst the text has many layers and themes a more direct and descriptive approach felt right. The novel is conceptual so a minimalist and symbolic visual language felt appropriate. The colours and the typography are there to reinforce shock of the title in a visual way.
